Design Research: Methods and Perspectives
The tools of design research, writes Brenda Laurel, will allow designers "to claim research design and direct the power of their profession." Often neglected in the various curricula of design schools, the new models of design research described in this book help designers to investigate people, form, research design and process in ways that can make their work more potent research design and more delightful. Design research - Design research emerged as a recognisable discipline in the 1960s, initially marked by a conference on Design methods at Imperial College, London, in 1963. It built a network of practitioners and academics, and led to the founding of the Design Research Society (DRS) in 1967.
